About Us
On a daily basis I find myself thinking "who wouldn't want goats??". Many people are surprised to learn that we have goats, and they ask why we have them. Do we milk them? No. Do we eat them? No. Then what do we do with them? We simply share our lives with them. They fill our days with joy, and in return we take excellent care of them. Goats are goofy, sweet, funny, charming, challenging -- and they know how to take life one day at a time. If the sun is out then they bask in it, if there is something to jump on they go for it, if there's a treat to be had they gobble it. They remind us to live in the present.
I understand that Nigerian Dwarf goats are excellent milk producers, and although they are small their milk is higher in butterfat than that from the larger goats. That being said, I spent many months reading and visiting farms before deciding that Nigerian Dwarf goats were for me based not on milk production but on personality, size and "available colors".
Our goal is to raise healthy beautiful pets that can also be used for high quality milk production.
And then there are the horses ... we are filled with gratitude!

The Summer Day, by Mary Oliver
Who made the world? Who made the swan, and the black bear? Who made the grasshopper? This grasshopper, I mean-- the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-- who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes. Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face. Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away. I don't know exactly what a prayer is. I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel in the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day. Tell me, what else should I have done? Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon? Tell me, what is it you plan to do With your one wild and precious life? |
