Peace of Mind
Having a hobby farm myself, I understand the need for somebody knowledgeable and responsible who is willing to take care of everything and everyone when you can't do it yourself. Whether it's due to travel, health issues, or simply because you need a break, I am happy to come to your farm and step in. My Pledge to You I have a lifetime of experience with animals, and my references will tell you that I am extremely conscientious with all aspects of tending to them. I take outstanding care of my animals, many of whom have special needs, and I will treat your animals as if they are my own. I will do my very best to follow all of your directions and routines so that you can rest easy knowing that your farm friends are in good hands. Services Things I can do around your farm include but are not limited to feeding/watering/supplements, blanketing, fly masks and spray, administering meds, cleaning stalls and paddocks, turning in and out, and collecting eggs. I also can care for your koi pond, feeding your fish and cleaning filters as needed. Additionally, I have extensive gardening experience, so if you have outdoor gardens and plants that need watering then I am happy to do that, too. Initial Consultation Visit This visit is free. I will use this time to meet you and your animals, and discuss the scope of care needed. I can also provide a custom quote based on the services you need. This is a no obligation visit. Pricing Pricing starts at $45 for an hour long visit. More time, level of responsibility, holidays, and travel further than 5 miles may increase that price, but let's talk (see maps below). About Me
Dependable. Trustworthy. Knowledgeable. Kind. Honest. Organized. Professional. I was born animal obsessed. Growing up I had a horse that I rode alone through the forests around my home in the Tug Hill region of New York State. I also had rabbits, dogs, ducks, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters and pigs, and all I ever wanted was to have a real farm. My current farm is a dream come true, and my barn is my sanctuary.
As a recently retired art teacher, I am enjoying the extra time I have to spend in my barn and riding my horse. I am also very active in my church and in the Lions Club. My husband Jim supports my crazy farm life, and we have three grown sons. As much as I love being home I also love to travel, and I have an amazing farm sitter that has taken care of my animals for many years. Her dependability and dedication have inspired me to take on this new role as farm sitter. |
FAQS
What if I have animals that are not listed above, like cows?
I have listed the animals that I currently own or have owned in the past, but I am absolutely willing and able to care for other animals.
What if I don't have a farm, but only house pets?
Farms are really what I am focusing on, and if you have house pets that are part of your farm family I am happy to include them. If you only have house pets then I can recommend one of the many good house pet sitters in our area.
What if I live further than 5 miles from Burt? How far will you travel?
Due to the cost of gas and the value of time, I am going to try to stick as close to home as possible. That being said, if you are a reasonable distance away, contact me and let's discuss the situation. SEE MAPS BELOW.
Can you spend nights on my property?
I am sorry, but due to my own farm responsibilities I am unable to spend the night on your property.
When is payment due?
Payment is due on or before the day services start.
What forms of payment do you accept?
You can pay with cash or through PayPal, Venmo or Zelle.
Will you keep in touch while we are away?
I will be more than happy to give you as much, or as little, contact as you’d like. If you’d prefer peace and quiet you will only be contacted in a relevant emergency. If you’d like regular updates, pictures, and even face time chats then that’s no problem, too.
Who are your references?
They are my vets, trainers, and boarders, and their contact information is available upon request.
Do you have a contract for us both to sign?
Absolutely - everything will be clearly spelled out in writing so that there are no misunderstandings.
